Question for those who do both IF and kettlebell or some other weights: Do you do your weight training on feast days or famine days? Any reason for doing it on one as opposed to the other?
Cheers, Mike

Try both. I think there may be a small advantage to working out on fast days, actually. Unless you are specifically trying to gain lare amounts of muscle mass, in which case you need to feed your body protein after a strenuous workout.

I don't alter the workout plan for the sake of the diet. Whichever day whatever planned workout lands on, that's the day I work out. The days that I'm fasting, I tend to feel more like working out; that's the only difference I've seen. No differences in strength. I suspect that if going a day without food were enough to substantially diminish performance, we'd be extinct. If one is a believer in post-workout recuperative protein shakes, which I'm a littly iffy about--though there is some evidence for it, and it may be that fasting increases the need for it and the effectiveness of it--one could simply make sure the time of the workout allows for that; if doing a 6-6 fast, for example, you could do your fast day workout at 5.

I think that the post-workout protein shake is probably valid, but more for appearance than most function. Hunting, fighting, dancing...these activities need lean kinda stringy muscle, not the bodybuilder physique, which is generally what the protein shake crowd tends toward.

It is actually part of my IF plan to make sure I work out on both fasting and feasting days. - I have also found that the easiest way to make sure that I can last the whole day of fasting without sweating it is to work out instead of having lunch. When I do this, hunger is simply not an issue till the next day. - Those would also be the afternoons when I am walking around with a gleam in my eye, and feeling very, very focussed.
