Hi Steven. I'm Chris Kim from Korea.
I found this site while looking for some web pages which can help me improve writing. I'm 30 years old and living in Seoul, Korea.
I majored in English education and have a master's degree.
Right now I'm teaching students in 6th~9th grade.
The reason why I chose this line of profession is that English is
fascinating for me. I wanted to do something I can enjoy and I am good at. It's true I'm enjoying my work but my English is far from perfect. I've never been abroad for more than 2 weeks.
I attended a work shop in Hawaii for 2 weeks and it was my first
experience in America.
While teaching and studying English, I tried to read books written in English and wrote essays, reports, mails, etc.
I had an writing teacher in my graduate school, Eric Prochaska, who was also an writer, and his class was so great and through his class, I realized that I like delivering my ideas by writing and I am good at it. So I took him as my role model and decided to be a professional writing teacher and writer, though I understand it will take so much time and effort. My goal is teaching writing to graduate school students and writing books in English.
So working as an English teacher, I'm trying to study writing. Currently what I am doing is writing my journal everyday and reading as many books as possible. My disadvantage as a second language learner is the limitation in expressing my ideas in English. This seems to be a high wall I can never get over.
Is there any way that can help me get through this?
If you have any suggestion, I'd appreciate it.
Thank you for your time.
Chris
