Hi again this is my idea for an alt history series inspired by Lion's Blood and Zulu Heart, and given the fact that Steven Barnes hasn't decided to write any more in the series.
Now my version of this alt history the world is devided between kingdom of Egypt and the Abbasid Caliphate the Islamic golden age, and in our timeframe it's the 1880's and they too have a civil war. Egypt and the Pharaoh's forces are North while Cailiph of bagdad forces is the south, and the White slaves are caught in the middle. Which are Cristians and they have kept there Latin words when they do there prayers to the one god, also it allows them to speak there mindas without fear from there Masters due to the simple fact that dispight there Islamic master are highly educated and given the fact that teaching a slave to read and write is a big no no and that they can understand Greek which is quite differant then Latin, and in our world Latin is the speach of Mother Church I want my slaves to have some form of talking to each other dispight were they came from so there speach of there Church helps.
Like the Mormons they will found a Cristian city and lands out in Utah were are Mormons did, and they will do during this Civil War.

That's kind of fun...you should write such a story!

Well one of the reasons is the simple fact that Steve Barnes isn't writing any more books in this series, the second is that his setting left some unanswered questions.
Now in my background the slaves have there own speech Latin and there Arab and Egyptian master consider it beneath them to speak it, I also needed a wat for my European slaves to talk to each other it's also the official speech of the Church in our world also law as well.
Also the Aztecs and the South American tribes would be like there are in Lion's Blood, also the Zulus would be the Texans in this setting.
Now they way that they fight is like in the war of 1812, I noticed that they don't seem to use the weapons of the Civil War the American one. They don't have rifled Musket's or Minie Ball type of Bullets, or Cannons.
Now Two Arab religons would be proscuted in this setting, one is mentioned in Lion's Blood Sufi and the Baha'i Faith which came about in the 19th century and is new and the Shah of Persia would have a devil of time keeping opressing them,
Mamluks are mention in the first book but not Janissaries the elite unit from bagdad, they are normally draw there manpower from Turks and still do in my setting. However they were ill treated by the Zulus, since they don't view Turks as being members Caliphate so they end up training the European slaves in art of war.
Also the Chinese and Japanese empire aren't mention only the simple fact that Chinese are only mention in the Paific coast area with there towns,
Now the subject of bullets and guns, why is there not mention of rilfed muskets and Minie Ball bullets, I think that the Jezzail bullet might come close to a minie ball but I truely don't know.
I need help with this background and setting,

My opinion is that weapons technology is slightly less evolved in the Lion's Blood universe, while (for instance) medical technology is slightly more advanced.

Well first off Mr Barnes I think that they would have Canons in this setting, also I wanted the Anglo slaves to more on the ball so to speak then in your novel series. A person can learn alot from the simple act of watching there betters, also I wanted them to have there own sort of speech hence Latin.
