Read it. Sounds just a tad too literate for a slave who labored for such an not a very nice person. But still great stuff.

That was my first thought, too, Steve. However, I know a number of people who have asked for help writing a letter that they did not quite know how to express, so I am not inclined to believe that this is not genuine based only on the apparent literary capability of the writer.
