Just wanted to say hello, Im new to this forum . I ran across Steves work at the CST forum, one thing led to another, and here I am. I am a 35 year old male, Ive been practicing martial arts now for 22 years . As I get older I find myself drawn more to the health side of the arts, and the other physcial disciplines like yoga or the 5 Tibetans. AFter finishing Zulu Heart, I decided that there may be questions I would like to ask the author, so be ready, I am a serious question- asker

Hello Steve,
It's Tracy and I heard through the grapevine that you're moving back to California. Don't know whether to congratulate you or send you condolences ::grin:: Funny, but I was just getting around to thinking I should move to the Northwest!!
I saw your Lion's Blood page and read your interview with SciFi (whom I started boycotting when they canceled Farscape, but I forgive them now that they're airing the miniseries)
Email me :-) Love, Tracy

In ZUlu Heart, you mention how Kai "lets his eyes go soft" to increase his field of vision. Could you explain what you mean by that?
Also, where can I find some good information on the enneagram ? I remember that you gave a source at the end of Lions Blood, but Ive passed it on to my reading reading circle and have no idea who has the book now. Thats happens to all my good books, they get passed around and disappear into the ether...

I would suggest "The Intelligent Enneagram." Dynamite and deep. "soft eyes" means focusing on everything and nothing. It requires relaxation of facial muscles, and is the opposite of hard, concentrated laser-like attention.

This may not be the best place to start, but there is some interesting reading to be had at: www.duversity.org/ideas/enneagram.htmlThere are some neat animations that helped me visualize at: www.duversity.org/doering/index.html-=- I believe that ideas can have a kind of critical mass. Once you feed your head as much as you can stand on a subject, follow the feeding with meditation to calm the collection, and be surprised at the links and bridges that you can pull out of the morass. Best, Adam

I must note that I am tempted by the International Enneagram Association's 2005 conference. www.internationalenneagram.org/c2005.htmlI still am a wandery student of everything, and this conference occurs during the month of August, when I'm NOT in school. Part of my temptation is that A.H. Almaas will be speaking there, and my suspicion is that I'd love to hear him speak on this subject. INFO: www.ridhwan.org/almaas.htmlHas anyone here read his stuff or heard him speak? Registration is still months away, but If others are going, It would be cool to meet you face-to-face.
