Hello Steve I read Lion’s Blood & Zulu Heart recently. Got me interested in the history of slave rebellions in north America. I found this site – really interesting web site design, and a piece of American history that I knew little about – the 2nd Seminole war. These folks make the claim that John Horse and the Black Seminoles led the largest and only successful rebellion against American slaveholders. www.johnhorse.com/index.htmlA money quote: “That a handful of slaves won their freedom through force of arms was a remarkable accomplishment. Given its implications for the slaves of the south, it comes as no surprise that slaveholders buried it deep. How historians missed the accomplishment is another question.” This site is enormous – over 1000 pages – and is nicely hyperlinked with maps, images, photos, timelines, essays. I’m just starting to explore it. This shows, I believe, some of the educational potential of the web, as well as being interesting bit of history in itself. Cheers, Frank Sauer
