I just came across the idea of the "gentle heart" while reading Hero of a Thousand Faces. It's the idea that the Hero can only successfully approach the Mother Goddess with the gentle heart, which is kind of like an open awareness, instead of lust or revulsion.
Apparently it's an old idea that troubadors would refer. I was just curious if this actually exists. If it does, how does one acquire it?

I hadn't heard this, or didn't remember it. However, the most powerful safe meditation I know is called the "Heartbeat" meditation. In it, you sit quietly and "listen" to your own heartbeat. To relax until you can feel your pulse, and remain in this placid state while concentrating on the heart space. Powerful. 10-40 minutes.
