Welcome to the Lifewriting list, and the new folks interested in the Five Minute Miracle system. For the last ten years, I've been teaching many of these concepts, and this is an attempt to combine them into a single seemless continuum, moving from the first breath of the day all the way to complex activities whether they be athletic, family, or buisness. The two systems are complementary, and over the next months it will be my pleasure to answer any and all questions connected with the theory and practise. It will take some time for people to find this site, so growth will be gradual--that's fine with me. What does matter is that the basic concerns are a life lived in a balance of health, love, and success. Without all three, life can be pretty hollow. So let's get started!

Thanks for the welcome, Steve!
I've been a big fan for over a decade and a half. You have served as a role model and inspiration for me. I had a couple of questions.
1. I'm dying to learn about the I.D.E.A. concept. How did you come up with the approach?
2. I read some Aubrey Daniels Behavior Analysis research that said it takes about 10,000 hours to develop mastery of something. That's 10 years at 20 hours a week, 50 weeks a year. So I applied the 3 areas balance idea to that. I'm now working on setting goals for 30 hours a week on each area (allowing 8 hours for sleep each night, household chores, commuting, eating, hygiene, etc.). So giving 30 hours a week to health, 30 to relationships and 30 to success seems reasonable. Do you think it's a straight line balance like that? Or would be more of a golden ratio or 80/20 (or Zipf's law*) type thing?
Using Zipf would put it at one area at 49 hours, one at 24.5 hours and one at 16.33 hours. That might be more in line with the amount of time required to stay in excellent physical condition and skill (at 16 hours a week), what's required to build and maintain outstanding relationships (24-ish hours a week) and 49 hours a week on success (hunting-gathering-creative-output-in-the-marketplace-type activities). What do you think?
* Zipf's law says the most common word appears twice as frequently as the second most frequent, three times as often as the third, etc.

Welcome to the forum--as we place buttons around the web site, there'll be more responses, but meanwhile I'll have fun--and a certain amount of comfort knowing that these responses are better-preserved than those on my mailing list. !) IDEA, Instinctive Designation of Energy and Attention, is a development of a theory of Scott Sonnon's. But the idea goes back at least hundreds of years: YOU are the instrument performing in every area of your life. By simplifying the basic number of tasks (body, mind, spirit) it is possible to take a meta-approach, that is, to perfect yourself and work on APPLYING this increasingly sophisticated self to these three arenas. Success in these arenas, therefore, becomes feedback. Many if not most of the most important aspects of our lives have no objective measurement possible: they exist in the "invisible" realm of emotion and spirit. So by choosing objective measurements in these three arenas, I believe you can gain an instinctive excellence in everything you do. 2) Remember that what you are really trying to "master" is being the best YOU that you can be. And by taking that excellence down to the smallest unit of attention--a single breath--and then re-educating your body's relationship with that most basic unit (the "Being Breathed by your movement" approach that distinguishes Zdorovye and the Five Minute Miracle program, you are speaking directly to your unconscious mind. Remember that breathing is the only process both conscious and autonomic. You're playing with dynamite here. How long per day? You are playing 24/7, my friend. And how long will it take to see results? If you actually use the system, stopping for a minimum 60 seconds 5X a day, and then working your abdominals fiercely every other day as a MINIMUM, you will find your dietary and movement habits changing...leading to increased energy...which gives you more to give your career and family... ## In other words, the "mastery" you seek is not at the end of a road. You are already the master. This process helps you uncover that vein of gold within you. But to answer your question as best I could, you should start seeing serious results in about six weeks. The first thing you'll probably notice is a decrease in overall stress. But the best is yet to come...

Love to have some of the other approximately 1000 people who've bought 5MM tell us of their thoughts, triumphs and troubles. The best thing we can do is build a community!
